Partners

part·ner
Pronunciation: \ˈpärt-nər also ˈpärd-\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English partener, alteration of parcener, from Anglo-French, coparcener
Date: 14th century
1.archaic : one that shares: partaker 2a: one associated with another especially in an action; associate , colleague b: either of two persons who dance together c: one of two or more persons who play together in a game against an opposing side d: a person with whom one shares an intimate relationship; one member of a couple 3: a member of a partnership, especially in a business; also : such membership

Since I began to get more interested in photography, Dan has shown a real interest also. He's got some real aptitude for it, too, without being interested in the technical side of things. He just like to take interesting shots. And a lot of them are really good!

And seeing how much of the last 10 years we spent tearing each other down, it's really special to finally be on the same path, bahaving like real partners.

I used to do photography in a dark room.
Negatives needed developed first, in a series of chemical solutions.

From there, photos could be created, cropped, sized, and created from any part of the negative.

The photo paper had to again go through a series of chemical solutions to create and set the image.

They were hung to dry.
A long process was involved to fasten a memory on a visual statement, a photo of a moment in time.

I have watched and enjoyed Ahead of My Ability. Photography has changed over time in the digital age. The possibilities have grown; the errors diminished. It is now an art limited only by what the photographer sees in their mind.... and makes it available to all.

Many comments here are directed at specific photos or colors. I never look at those.

Ahead of My Ability has saved me a lot of time by capturing the memories of my favorite places in the community of Erie, and beyond. It is a collection I cherish and often think about the places you have missed, wondering if you will capture THOSE, for me.

But what I enjoy most in this ongoing saga, is the growing joy of a family.

The heavy eyes and faces of two children on the threshold of divorce have been headlined in new form as faces of joy and love.

A man named Dan, once diminished as yesterday's news, hung in there and has become dad, husband, leader, friend, and more in a transformation that the lowly caterpillar dreams about. Dan now soars as a butterfly in his family and community.

The dark room developed reverse images before the final results were in to view.

I take great delight this day, that the dark room of marriage has taken your tapestry of family and values, and reversed the image through the magic of photography into a new picture for all to view and be inspired.

Photography is STILL a miracle, tho ages old.

Few realize that as you look through a lens at a scene or person, you make myriad multiple decisions on what to keep in the scene, cut out, close up and embrace, move back to panorama, and more. Then, click! It is recorded.

But what goes through the camera lens and the eye, goes through to the brain, where ALL of those myriad decisions are ALL recorded in reverse image, and then sent out in a memory in correct image....flaws and corrections alike.

After many years of taking photos, I have found no need for the picture. For the image of all of them are planted deep in my mind forever.

The smells of the moment, the time of day, the weather, the background sounds of bird chirp or car horn or rushing water remain, the soft touch of a cheek or a teardrop are recalled. A baby's cry is forever.

My brain camera does it all. My point and shoot, 35 MM, and all the others can NOT record all of those senses.

Photography does that within the soul.

I salute you for saving a marriage and a family, by capturing the essence of what really matters in all of our lives, and using it to fashion a new life for all of you....and us, as an inspiration and reminder of what can be possible for anyone.

May all of your memories be eternally rewarding as you continue to make the invisible....visible anew.

Wow! Really cool photos! I love the lighting, the reflections, the sillouette, and the goldenness. And your journaling to go along with this is wonderful! You should print them out together, with your journaling, in a scrapbook page. . . to be discovered by your great grandchildren!
