More shots of Emily from last week. These are all in the vicinity of Erie Art Museum and the alleyways around the block from there. For those who asked, Em is my daughter. She's 14. She gets paid for her modeling sessions in room and board. ;-)
As a special note, I would really like to thank Danny Lucas for his insightful comments and suggestions on the pictures in my last post. I appreciate all the comments everyone leaves, but he had some excellent criticisms that made a lot of sense to me. So thanks, Danny! Feel free to leave me CC any time!
Note: I have no idea what in tarnation this thing is. I think it might be some old gas well type thing or something. Sure looks neat, though!

You have a unique situation going on. I like the way you include people in your pics without going into portraits. 4oo pictures of the Washington Monument is boring, tho inclusive of every angle.
But 400 pictures with 400 different people makes that same Washington Monument memorable and alive. People make a difference.
Now about Emily,....she is a special people in the pictures.
The ancient Druids used to study "mist". It is neither water or air. They studied mistletoe. It is neither bush nor tree.
These types of items are neither, and both, and that makes them unique.
Adolescence is another of these unique ventures. You are both child and adult simultaneously.
The Druids believed that by studying these things, they were able to simultaneously glimpse into two worlds at once.
When you snap a picture of Emily, I see two worlds at once! You have very little time to do this and I applaud your effort.
Ten years ago, she was age 4 and clearly a child. Ten years from now, she will be 24 and clearly a woman.
But right now, you can glimpse into two worlds at once. I hope your pictures have that in every frame.
I do not know you family structure, but I did the same as you with photography. I took my children to a same spot (a tree of great texture on a pumpkin farm below Edinboro for us) and snapped them at the same spot in the same month each year. The scenery is the same; the children change dramatically. Find a spot!
For your audience and you, another concept, if you don't mind.
There was a period raising girls that I had little budget for Christmas, coupled with a large family to gift in December.
I took pictures of them throughout the year. I recall my sister, Audrey, having a birthday in May. Her best friend surprised her with a song. It was written by the children of her friend and they played brass instruments for the music. My sister was sitting on a lawn chair and this threesome of musical geniuses were serenading her birthday with a splendid composition of their own. It was a unique gift and I caught it in photos. Here's why.
In the fall, I take the best of my annual photos and mat them in white or off-white. I search the Bible for the "best phrase" that represents the picture. That is written at the base or top of the matting and then a simple $3 frame makes a gift to wrap, custom made for each person.
In the case of Audrey above, I chose Matthew 24:31. Audrey is beaming at this brass music being played just for her, She is surrounded by three people and their trumets are by pressed lips and puffed cheeks. Below, it is written:
"And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call"

You can make priceless gifts if your eyes are open all year using a camera and a few kind words from God.
In this set of pictures, that is easy to do with Emily and the "Thinker" posed as two, in a photo with two columns, two doors each having two windows, two white stair rails, two small windows and two large windows, two pair of two feet, well,...you get the drift!
This picture is "Emily's Ark".
It requires TWO verses on a matting in ivory color:
"You are to bring into the Ark two of all creatures...
Go into the Ark, ...because I have found you righteous in this generation"
---Genesis 6:19 and Genesis 7:1
Emily will remember the moment of the picture, and hear God speak to her, through you, simultaneously.
And in glimpsing two worlds at once, YOU can be a Druid too.
