In the back yard

In the backyard, the lilacs are finally in bloom.
And you'll see some birds if you're quiet...like this cardinal....

And some lowly sparrows

If the dog's not paying attention, you might see a chipmunk.

Ol' Spikey's generally pretty vigilant.

Someone has to protect the yard from foreign creatures, you know.

But every now and then, he takes a short break.
He'll take a little roll (no easy feat while attached to his run),


Then he'll check to see if you're watching.
And if he thinks all is well, he might close his eyes for a second.
